DriveLab provides graded exposure to driving for people who have physical, cognitive, emotional or developmental disabilities, as well as to seniors who require assistance in maintaining their driver status.
DriveLab services a variety of groups, including:
- people who suffered illness or injury and need help to re-establish their driving skills
- seniors who need to re-qualify for their licence
- drivers who have lost confidence in their ability to deal with today's industrial-commercial driving environment
- novice drivers who cannot obtain a driver's license through conventional driver education programs
The DriveLab team of Occupational Therapists, Certified Driving Instructors, Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS), Psychologists, Behaviour Therapists and Mobility Equipment Suppliers/Vehicle Modifiers offer:
- Fitness to Drive Assessments to evaluate and remediate driving anxiety/phobia of drivers, passengers and pedestrians who possess a class G, G1, G2, AZ, B (school purpose bus), C or D Driver's Licence.
- Adaptive Equipment Assessments and Prescriptions
- Demonstrations, Instructions, Vehicle modifications and Teaching In-Vehicle Intervention Sessions
DriveLab also has the capability to perform:
- Mini-van and Full size van Driver, Passenger, and Transportation Evaluations and Prescriptions including clinical, wheelchair, vehicle, adaptive driver equipment (entry systems, restraints, primary and secondary controls), and In-vehicle Assessments.
- Drive Safe Program includes intake and discharge sessions, in-vehicle sessions, and a program completion certificate for aggressive drivers.
